Projects Benefitting Hyde County
- The North Carolina Men’s Health Report Card draws from numerous sources to provide a comprehensive overview of the health landscape for men across the state.
- The UNC School of Nursing provides training for sexual assault nurse examiners in rural parts of eastern N.C. with funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
- The UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention runs No Kid Hungry N.C. with funding from Share Our Strength to help end child hunger and ensure kids get the food they need by increasing access to underutilized federal child nutrition programs for school breakfast, afterschool meals, and summer meals.

Outreach manager protects NC families
Center for Public Engagement with Science works with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Children’s Environmental Health Unit to develop trainings and educational resources. The group helps NCDHHS share these resources and also makes sure public health professionals and/or nonprofits with a health mission have access to them.

Second annual research symposium highlights sustainability research across Carolina
Researchers, students, staff and community members gathered for the second annual Sustainability Research Symposium sponsored by Sustainable Carolina and the UNC Institute for the Environment on Apr. 16. at UNC’s Wilson Library. Researchers led lightning talks covering a range of topics showcasing the ground-breaking sustainability research that happens across UNC-Chapel Hill.

A new study published in Atmospheric Environment by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill analyzed space and time trends for fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in the continental United States to track the progress of regulatory actions by federal, state and local authorities aimed at curbing air pollution.
