Enhance Research Assets
Strengthen and modernize Carolina’s core research assets, facilities, equipment, data, and technology to enable competitiveness, scale, and long-term impact.
UNC’s research enterprise relies on a wide array of core facilities, data platforms, and technologies to power discovery across disciplines. We aim to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of these assets, ensuring they serve more investigators and deliver greater value to the state.
Starting with our shared research cores, we will reduce unnecessary duplication, increase cross-campus coordination, diversify funding sources and users, incorporate AI-driven innovation, and implement strong financial stewardship and management policies.
We will also expand access to key data, cloud, and AI platforms, ensuring they are widely adopted, well-supported, and responsive to the evolving needs of our research community. By modernizing and unifying these assets, we will empower our researchers and ensure UNC’s ability to compete, grow, and innovate over the long term.
