Doing COVID-19 Dirty Work

UNC microbiologist Rachel Noble is leading a state-wide collaboration using wastewater to track novel coronavirus outbreaks across North Carolina, gaining insight that testing individuals does not offer. Preliminary results have shown that by using wastewater, researchers can identify COVID-19 hot spots five to seven days before they are reflected by clinical testing results.

UNC Researchers Move to Next Phase of Developing COVID-19 Treatment

UNC researchers have moved into the second phase of development for a COVID-19 treatment that would treat patients with moderate cases the virus. The goal is to keep patients out of the hospital and prevent the development of serious effects of the virus.
