Original Communication
Effective for all NIH proposals due after September 25, 2019, the HHS requirements and review considerations proposed involving the use of human fetal tissue obtained from elective abortions (HFT) has changed per NIH NOT-OD-19-128.
These requirements are in addition to the existing requirements in the NIH Grants Policy Statement (4.1.14). In addition, NIH reminds the community of expectations to obtain informed consent from the donor for any NIH-funded research using HFT (NOT-OD-16-033).
