Effective 9/5/2023, Celeste Cantrell was promoted to UNC OHRE Associate Director of Operations. In her new role with OHRE, Celeste is responsible for oversight of the Operations team within the Office of Human Research Ethics (OHRE). Her role entails working with OHRE staff, board members, IRB Chairs, as well as other research committees and administrative staff to on the IRB review process and provide guidance, assistance, and continuing education for researchers and research community.
Celeste is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) and has worked with the OHRE for seven years as an Analyst, Senior Analyst, and interim Associate Director. She previously worked with the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease group as a Study Coordinator and with other UNC departments as a Research Technician. Outside of the office, Celeste enjoys skiing, hiking, backpacking, and swimming. She is currently learning to play pickleball and will join a handbell choir after the new year.
