The OVCR seeks your help in recruiting the next cohort of the Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity. There are several ways schools and departments can leverage this program as a faculty recruitment tool. The application period runs from September 15 to November 15, 2022.

The 2023 Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity (CPPFD) funding cycle will open September 15, 2022. This program was created to serve two essential functions at Carolina. The first function is to attract postdoctoral fellows from different backgrounds to recruit and prepare them for tenure-track faculty positions at UNC-Chapel Hill. The second function is to increase faculty diversity and inclusive excellence at Carolina and beyond.

Scholars for the CPPFD are selected each year and are provided support for two years. The current stipend is $50,000, with $42,000 provided by the OVCR and $8,000 from the partnering department.

The next class of the CPPFD will begin July 1, 2023. We seek your assistance in making this a successful recruitment. There are several ways schools and departments can leverage this program as a faculty recruitment tool. First, deans and department chairs are encouraged to customize the program’s sample advertisement to identify potential candidates for future anticipated or planned faculty searches. A sample advertisement is available here.

The application deadline is 11:59 PM EST on Monday, November 15, 2022. Once all applications are received, we will forward them to appropriate schools or departments and ask you to evaluate the applicants and recommend your top candidate. You will be asked to describe plans for acclimating the individual, if selected, to faculty life and into your department (i.e., orientation, mentoring plan, and professional development resources.) The final selection of fellows will be made in February 2023.

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact the program coordinator, Jennifer Pruitt. You can also visit the program web page.
