I am happy to announce that Mike Matamoros has been named Associate Director, Operations and Education in the Office of Human Research Ethics (OHRE) effective Monday, January 27, 2020.
Mike Matamoros has been with the OHRE at UNC for 6.5 years as an Analyst, Senior Analyst and most recently the Quality Manager. He came to UNC by way of University of Texas- San Antonio bringing over 14 years of research and IRB experience. His expertise in the regulations of the Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will continue to be extremely beneficial as we continue to ensure that we are complying with the recently revised Common Rule and continue to improve processes, and broaden educational offerings across campus. Matamoros is a certified IRB professional (CIP) who is committed to the protection of human subjects, being a resource for the research community, and focus on improving day-to-day operations. Please join me in welcoming Mike to his new role as Associate Director, Operations and Education.

I am happy to announce that John Roberts has been named Associate Director, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance in the Office of Human Research Ethics (OHRE) effective Monday, January 27, 2020.
John Roberts has been with the OHRE at UNC for 4.5 years both as an Analyst and Reliance Manager. He came to UNC by way of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and RTI bringing over 15 years of research and IRB experience. His expertise in the regulations of the Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will continue to be extremely beneficial as we continue to ensure that we are complying with the recently revised Common Rule and continue to navigate the single IRB world. Roberts is a certified IRB professional (CIP) who is committed to the protection of human subjects, being a resource for the research community, and continuous process improvement.
