In order to enhance the award set-up and Financial Guarantee (LOG) process, the following changes to RAMSeS are effective May 19, 2023.

New Proposal Status – “Intent to Fund”

A new RAMSeS proposal status named “Intent to Fund” is available for OSP to trigger when a sponsor has identified that they will fund a proposal prior to issuing the notice of award. As with award notices, departments should send intent to fund documents or communications to OSP for processing at SponsoredPrograms@unc.edu.

Intent to Fund Email

Once OSP has changed the IPF status to “Intent to Fund,” a RAMSeS automated email (see example below) will be sent to the same recipients as the “Award Received” process: Lead PI, PS Project ID Managers, IPF Owner, Primary Award Contact, and the Sponsored Projects Specialist.

This email is also conditionally cc’d to compliance offices:

  • Conflict of Interest (COI) Program Office: If via the RAMSeS COI grid any COI disclosures indicate a red X in the “Review Complete” column.
  • OACU/IACUC Office: If animal subjects are indicated in the IPF.

Additional Updates

Removal of LOG Hard Stop

It is now possible to submit a Financial Guarantee (LOG) even if the proposal’s COI requirements have not yet been completed.

RAM Tracker Transparency pop-up / new “RAM Tracker Emails” listing

A listing of RAM Tracker emails will now be displayed at the bottom of the RAM Tracker Transparency pop-up, including the RAM Tracker ID, Email Type, Status, Sent Date, Subject, and recipients. The user can view the email and related information by clicking the “Subject” hyperlink from the listing. All past/future associated RAM Tracker emails will appear on the list.

For questions related to specific proposals, please contact your department’s OSP Sponsored Projects Specialist or School of Medicine Sponsored Programs Office Grants Analyst. For all other general inquiries, email SponsoredPrograms@unc.edu.
