Carolina Science Cafe | Earthquakes: Shake, Rattle, and Roll!

August 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for our next installment of the Carolina Science Cafe, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center’s free, current science awareness program. For the August cafe, we will welcome Amy Pitts, Senior Geologist for Education and Outreach at the North Carolina Geological Survey.

Designed for adults, this program explores science topics making national and international headlines and offers the chance to meet the experts behind the headlines. The Carolina Science Cafe is hosted at Haw River Tab & Table in Carrboro on Tuesday, August 6th, starting at 6:00 p.m. with light appetizers available for all attendees.

Geologists don’t just study rocks and minerals. Earth hazards like landslides, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes are an important part of our profession. Join us to learn the basics of earthquakes (what, where, and why) and how studying earthquakes changed what we know about Earth. Oh, and those small earthquakes in North Carolina? We’ll talk about those, too!
