OVCR announces search for Center for Galapagos Studies permanent director

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) is currently accepting applications for a permanent director of the UNC Center for Galapagos Studies (CGS), an administrative, secondary faculty appointment.

The mission of the CGS is to improve the scientific understanding of the linked social, terrestrial, and marine sub-systems in the Galápagos Islands. The center develops an integrative, interdisciplinary program of research, education, and outreach to produce new tools, techniques, and knowledge about island and coastal ecosystems in the Galápagos and beyond.

We are seeking a strategic faculty leader who will build on the center’s strong reputation, partnerships, and accomplishments to advance a portfolio of mission-driven activities and to obtain the resources needed for long-term sustainability and success.

Exceptional candidates will bring deep knowledge and experience of the Galápagos and a clear vision for growing and sustaining the center that will inspire productive engagement. They will leverage strong leadership skills, a collaborative approach, and sophisticated understanding of the University and the research landscape to develop an ambitious research agenda, strategic partnerships, and fundraising plan that support the center’s mission.
