President’s budget request expected March 9

The Office of Federal Affairs is currently in the process of formalizing Carolina’s federal funding priorities for FY24. Please contact the office if you have questions related to federal funding for specific agencies and programs. The president’s budget, expected to be released on March 9, is a blueprint and is not binding. It includes proposed policies and high-level numbers and reflects the administration’s priorities for each federal agency. Congress will decide the funding levels for FY24 through the annual appropriations process.

New associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate

On February 27, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson announced that Nicola Fox will lead the Science Mission Directorate as associate administrator effective immediately. Fox previously served as director of NASA’s Heliophysics Division and has worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. She has a doctorate in space and atmospheric physics from Imperial College London.
