Snigdha Chaturvedi is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science within the UNC College of Arts & Sciences. She studies natural language processing — how computers understand human languages.

For almost 40 years, the Carolina Postdoctoral Program for Faculty Diversity (CPPFD) has been preparing scholars from different backgrounds for faculty careers and the tenure process.

Jamilläh Rodriguez is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Linguistics within the UNC College of Arts and Sciences. She studies phonology — how sound is organized within a language — and its relationship to syntax in understudied and endangered languages, particularly in Mesoamerica and diaspora communities.

The program’s curriculum offers workshops and trainings designed to broaden awareness about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics among the SOM faculty/staff and deepen engagement with and between individuals in the SOM at all levels – from patients to leadership.
