Dr. Nina Lyon Bennett is a director of member education and research delivery at EAB, focusing on student success research and programs. Dr. Lyon Bennett brings a wealth of combined teaching, research, writing, and administrative experience in higher education to EAB. Most recently, Dr. Lyon Bennett served as chair of the Department of Human Ecology at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. During her tenure at UMES, Dr. Lyon Bennett helped increase student enrollment, developed a bridge program for high school students, and secured funding for various student engagement programs. A tenured associate professor, Dr. Lyon Bennett also served as chair for the faculty assembly and university senate, and participated in various institutional committees. Dr. Lyon Bennett holds a PhD in child and family development from the University of Georgia, and her undergraduate and master’s degree in sociology from Clark Atlanta University. She has presented at several national conferences, is a published author, a certified life coach and has earned graduate certificates in social gerontology, women’s studies, and family financial planning. Dr. Lyon Bennett has also earned the professional certification from the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences in Human Development and Family Studies, received the Outstanding Family and Consumer Sciences Professional award from the National Coalition for Black Development in Family & Consumer Sciences in 2010, and is a 2014 graduate of the Food Systems Leadership Institute.
