Spring 2022 Genetics Colloquium Seminar: The intersection of mouse genetics and biodiversity conservation

May 4, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Next Wednesday the Department of Genetics is hosting J Royden Saah, GBIRd Coordinator at Island Conservation, as the presenter in the Spring 2022 Genetics Colloquium.  His seminar title is “The intersection of mouse genetics and biodiversity conservation”.  The seminar is hybrid and all are invited to attend.

One of Island Conservation (https://www.islandconservation.org/ ) big projects is Rewilding the Galapagos.  Royden focus is on the Genetic Biocontrol of Invasive Rodents (GBIRd, https://www.islandconservation.org/?s=gbird) program, that aims to eradicate these invasive species from all islands.  He is interested in developing partnerships with academicians interested in developing genetic means for to achieve this aim (i.e., gene drives, chromosome shredders), but he also interested in population genetics including modelling.
