Annual Science Expo (w/Postdoc Booths)

April 1, 2023

UNC’s Postdoc Association (PDA) is in need for volunteers for the upcoming UNC Science Expo. The annual UNC Science Expo will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023, on the lawn of the Morehead Planetarium, where UNC postdocs will have two stalls this year. The goal of this event is to bring science closer to the public in a fun and interactive way. We plan to host a “Code Breaker” event, where participants will break the genetic code by translating short mRNA sequences into protein chains, which they will build with colored blocks. Our second stall, hosted by PDA’s Minority Postdoc Alliance, will bring the “Science of Skin Color” to the Expo visitors, where participants will play fun games surrounding skin pigmentation and learn about scientists of historically underrepresented groups. Small prizes will be given to participants to make it even more fun. To make this event as successful as possible, your help is needed to supervise the event and interact with attendeesNo background knowledge required- all postdocs from all fields are welcome! To sign up for this great volunteer opportunity please complete this sign-up form before noon on March 28, 2023:
