Restrictions or delay in sharing data from NIH-funded research: When is it justified?

Starting with January 25, 2023 grant applications, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will require the creation and implementation of a plan to openly share data resulting from the research it funds. The NIH will make few exceptions to this rule and require explicit justifications for an exemption from open sharing.
