DESCRIPTION:Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training for Postdoctoral Scholars (Spring 2026) \n\n\n\nTwo-Day Training: April 22nd (In-Person) & April 23rd (Virtual)Day 1: Wednesday\, April 22nd | 9:15AM – 4:15PM | In-Person. Pleasant’s Room\, Wilson LibraryDay 2: Thursday\, April 23rd | 9:00AM – 4:45PM | Virtual (Zoom) \n\n\n\nOngoing training in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) is mandated by all federal granting programs including NIH and NSF. The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is offering a two-day training course that will satisfy the RCR training requirements for the NIH and NSF research grant applications. The primary goal for the course for Postdoctoral Scholars is to address RCR topics such as Publication Practices and Responsible Authorship\, Mentor/Trainee Responsibilities\, Research Misconduct\, and Communication and Difficult Conversations as well as familiarize postdocs with offices on campus where they can get assistance or report a concern. \n\n\n\n*Course available only for UNC-CH Postdoctoral Scholars* \n\n\n\nThe following topics are covered during instruction over a 2-day period: \n\n\n\n\nConflict of interest\n\n\n\nPolicies regarding human subjects in research\n\n\n\nMentor/mentee responsibilities and relationships\n\n\n\nData management\, with Lab Archives demo\n\n\n\nExport Compliance & Science and Security\n\n\n\nAI in Research \n\n\n\nIntellectual Property & Commercialization \n\n\n\nResearch misconduct and policies for handling misconduct responsible authorship and publication\n\n\n\nResearcher as a responsible member of society\, contemporary ethical issues\n\n\n\n\nThis course will meet over two days. 100% attendance across both days is required to receive the completion certificate.
