Mechanisms of Susceptibility to Inhaled Toxicants: Jonathan Shannahan, Ph.D

May 11, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Dr. Jonathan Shannahan is an Assistant Professor at Purdue University and candidate for appointment as faculty in the Division of Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences in the Adams School of Dentistry. Dr. Shannahan obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree at the North Carolina State University and his Ph.D in Toxicology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The studies evaluate pulmonary, oral, cardiovascular, and immune toxicity associated with emerging exposures such as engineered nanomaterials, mixtures, occupational and environmental exposures, and others. Dr. Shannahan has a strong collaborative program which is currently NIH funded to investigate the oral health effects and susceptibility associated with electronic nicotine delivery system usage along with investigating lipid mediators of pulmonary inflammation.
