Biography

Valorie (Val) Buchholz is a certified healthcare research compliance professional with over 25 years of experience in clinical research.  Since 2001, Val has held a number of clinical research positions at UNC including research coordinator in both the Departments of Ob/Gyn and Surgery; research manager in the Department of Surgery; Associate Director for the Clinical Trials Quality Assurance Program; Deputy Research Compliance Officer and now as the Senior Director of Clinical Research Compliance with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.  Val, together with other members from the Clinical Research Compliance Office (CRCO), OVCR, faculty, and staff, will assess where compliance issues might be affecting the clinical research enterprise. Together, they will evaluate the level of risk and work toward developing solutions to mitigate these issues. Additionally, Val will continue to engage with the One UNC initiative and work closely with the Associate Vice Chancellors for Clinical Research and Research Compliance to synchronize policies, standards, and processes to boost compliance and enhance efficiencies throughout both the University and the Healthcare system.
