OSR Reorganization Guidance

As part of the reorganization, the Office of Sponsored Research has provided a description and clarification of the responsibilities of the units of Proposal Management, Award Management, and Financial Reporting and Cash Management, along with written guidance on how to decide which unit to approach. New RAMSeS Features

The Office of Sponsored Research and the Office of Research Information Systems (ORIS) have released several enhancements for the RAMSeS system:

  • Ability to Create a Proposal Project
  • New Reporting Features
  • Improved Electronic Project Financial Guarantee Submission
  • Ability for Campus Users to Change the Status of an Approved Proposal

An additional enhancement allows campus users to view the awards associated with a particular proposal. Two tabs have been added to the proposal status page: Financial Guarantee (to request an account number for this proposal) and Awards (to view all awards associated with this proposal).

Center for Entrepreneurial Development's Tech Conference

Date: October 10-11, 2007
Place: The Friday Center , Chapel Hill

The Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) announces the Tech Conference 2007, an annual industry conference where innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and others explore the technology sector's latest trends. The Tech Conference will focus on the latest cutting-edge markets and global opportunities in medical devices, new materials, clean technologies, and nanotechnology, as well as telecom, internet, software, and hardware.

CED is seeking applicants including universities, entrepreneurial companies, and other research groups to demonstrate their new technologies and products in the Demo Pavilion Room. Applications must be submitted by July 27.

Expanding the Carolina Internal Funding Database

The GrantSource Library is currently updating and expanding the university-wide Carolina Internal Funding Database, which includes funding opportunities sponsored or administered by offices of the university. If you would like your office's internal funding opportunities included in the database, please contact the GrantSource Library <gs@unc.edu> at 962-3463.

New NIH Roadmap Funding Areas

The NIH Roadmap emphasis areas for 2008 will now include phenotyping and proteomics. If you are interested in preparing for these new opportunities, please join the meetings listed below. Lunch will be provided.

UNC Roadmap Funding Opportunities Updates

The GrantSource Library has updated the information on four of the Roadmap funding opportunities web pages listed under the specialized interest groups. Carolina researchers conducting studies on diabetes, melanoma, stem cells, or stroke can find current information on funding available for their work from federal and private sources.
