OSR Reminder about Application Submission Deadlines

During this time of summer vacations and holidays, it is important to remember that all proposals should be routed through RAMSeS to reach the Office of Sponsored Research or the Sponsored Programs Office at least five business days before the published due dates. Special consideration must be given to deadlines that are close to holidays (e.g., the Fourth of July holiday falls the day before the July 5 receipt date for R01/U01 resubmissions and revisions). Finally, keep in mind that after an application has been assembled on the eRA Commons, NIH allows project directors, principal investigators, and university signing officials a two-day window (including weekday holidays) to view and correct the application before it is forwarded for study section review.

OSR Organizational Changes

As the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) continues its transition to a new organizational structure, the following is an update on the reorganization, the changing review responsibilities between OSR and the School of Medicine's Sponsored Programs Office (SPO), and how the review responsibilities will affect the submission of both hardcopy and Grants.gov research proposals.

  • The Proposal Management staff in OSR, now solely dedicated to processing proposals, has three Grant and Contract Specialists responsible for National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposal submissions. To view the names of these specialists and the breakdown of their areas of responsibility, click here. Please feel free to contact these individuals with any questions you might have.
  • SPO now manages and submits all NIH proposals administered by School of Medicine (SOM) departments. In the past, SPO was responsible for submitting just NIH R01s and a few other mechanisms for the school, but they will now be submitting SOM proposals for all series of mechanisms going to the NIH.
