Internal Grants.gov Submission Deadlines
Since Grants.gov submissions may be completed only by an Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) or Sponsored Programs Office (SPO) Authorized Organization Representative, researchers are strongly encouraged to forward proposals to OSR or SPO at least five business days prior to the sponsor’s published deadline or closing date. This five day window provides sufficient time for OSR/SPO to complete a comprehensive review of the grant application and to submit a corrected application should errors in the electronic submission be detected by Grants.gov or the sponsor’s validation checks.
OSR understands that adhering to the five day window may not always be possible, and they will make every effort to process applications that come to their office before the closing date. However, OSR/SPO cannot submit applications after 5:30 p.m. on the closing date as their offices are not staffed after that time. Please contact Hamilton Brown, Carolyn Marlow, or Jim Peterson if you have questions or concerns.
RAMSeS eRA Training
RAMSeS (Research Administration Management System and eSubmission) is the electronic system which will replace Coeus beginning July 1, 2006. It includes the new Research Contacts system which will facilitate the use of RAMSeS for IPFs (internal processing forms), electronic proposal routing, and submission. Research administrators and department business managers are invited to attend one of the Research Contacts and RAMSeS eIPF training workshops to learn more about the new system. Minimum Stipend for Postdoctoral Scholars
Effective July 1, the university’s Postdoctoral Scholars Policy will require a minimum stipend of $34,200 for postdoctoral scholars. The Postdoctoral Advisory Committee will assess this level annually, and it is projected that this minimal salary level will increase approximately three percent per year. Waivers of this minimal stipend level will be considered but only for highly unusual reasons. READ MORE
Carolina Center for Clinical Trials
UNC-Chapel Hill has opened a new unit, the Carolina Center for Clinical Trials (CCCT), which will foster the involvement of the university’s medical school faculty in more industry-sponsored clinical trials. The goals of CCCT include facilitating Institutional Review Boards, Investigational Drug Service, and contract submissions, providing personnel support for study implementation, and advancing the participation of new investigators in clinical research. CCCT will work with investigators to meet the needs of specific research teams. READ MORE
