Major Challenges in Clinical Medicine: An Overview for Basic Scientists
Date: June 25 – July 25
The Carolina Roadmap Executive Committee is offering a one-month training course, including lectures, mentored lab time, and self-study, to help basic science graduate students and postdoctoral scholars incorporate translational and clinical aspects into their research. The program will provide a brief but in-depth experience with translational research for basic scientists at early stages of their careers to help them decide whether involvement in translational research should be one of their career goals. There is no cost to participate.

Core Facilities Training Program
The university's Core Facilities Directors would like to introduce new users to Carolina's many shared core facilities to increase the number of users and encourage sophisticated uses of the cores. Vice Chancellor Tony Waldrop and School of Medicine Executive Associate Dean Bill Marzluff have created a program in which core facilities will be compensated on an hourly basis for conducting customized training for investigators. This initiative is open to investigators throughout the university.
Carolina North Community Meetings
The university is hosting a series of meetings about Carolina North for the campus and local communities. UNC-Chapel Hill representatives will present potential uses for Carolina North and three conceptual approaches to its development. Local residents, faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate. The first set of sessions was held March 27 in Carolina's School of Government. RAMSeS Improves Proposal Retrieval
The Office of Sponsored Research and the Office of Research Information Systems (ORIS) have implemented an enhancement in RAMSeS (Research Administration Management System and eSubmission) to increase the speed of retrieving proposals. Two distinct tabs in each section of the Proposal Dashboard (i.e., My Proposals) now separate items requiring further processing from items that have already been processed.
If you experience difficulties with this enhancement, or with any aspect of RAMSeS, contact the ORIS Help Line at 843-2594.
