SBIR/STTR R&D Funding Conference

Place: NC Biotechnology Center , Research Triangle Park , NC
The UNC Small Business and Technology Development Center is hosting a two-day workshop on research and development funding from the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. Representatives from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and Department of Agriculture will introduce the SBIR/STTR programs at their agencies and answer questions. The workshop will cover topics such as:
- agency overviews;
- follow-on federal funding opportunities;
- Angel networks as early stage funders;
- phase I proposal development;
- selling to the government as a customer;
- avoiding accounting pitfalls;
- NIH electronic submission;
- Case study: Effective university/small business collaboration; and
- Legal transactional issues in Phases II and III.

NASA to Hold Briefings in Chapel Hill

Place: UNC Office of the President, 910 Raleigh Road , Chapel Hill , NC
Representatives from the National Aeronautics Space Administration's (NASA) Langley Research Center will hold briefings for university representatives, state government staff, and key business leaders. The purpose of the briefings is to increase awareness of NASA programs and business opportunities and to foster potential new partnerships in the state of North Carolina .
NASA program managers will discuss the Vision for Space Exploration, aeronautics and science programs, procurement and small business opportunities, and university programs. A complete agenda is available online. Although there is no charge, seating is restricted to 50 participants and registration is required.
