- New Web Page: (Web)
OSR is releasing the next site in a series of web based "toolkits" designed
to support individuals finding research funding. The other toolkits will
support the University in managing various aspects of sponsored research
administration including: preparing a proposal, setting up an award, managing
an award, and closing out an award.

Director of Pre Award Services : (PDF) Hamilton Brown will assume the
duties of Director of Pre Award Services on March 9,2005.
- OSR releases improved IPF: On Monday, 2/28, a new version of the
IPF will be introduced. Along with a few functional enhancements (including
a preview option), you may notice some cosmetic improvements as well.
In preparation for the release, we would ask that you complete and submit
all IPFs prior to Friday's close of business. Thank you.

Notice NOT-OD-05-006 : (Web) NIH issues revised instructions and
forms for PHS 398 that may be used for applications with submission/receipt
dates on or after December 1, 2004. All applications received on or
after May 10, 2005 must use the new instructions and forms.
- UNCF-Merck
Graduate Science Research Dissertation Fellowship: (PDF)

Sharing Policy Change (NSB-04-157) : (PDF) NSF eliminates requirements
that Universities share cost of Research it sponsors.
- New Page, October 13, 2004- Bare Essentials
for Effort Reporting was created to assist Faculty and Staff better
understand the issues surrounding Effort Reporting.
- NIH
Notice NOT-OD-05-002 dated October 12, 2004 : (Web) NIH Announces Updated
Criteria for Evaluating Research Grant Applications. These updated review
criteria will be effective for research grant applications received on or
after January 10, 2005 that fall into the following categories:
- Investigator initiated research grant applications;
- Investigator initiated research grant applications submitted in response
Program Announcements (PAs) whether published before or after this announcement;
- Solicited research grant applications submitted in response to Requests
for Applications (RFAs) will continue to use the review criteria described
in the RFA.
- New IRB Fee
Policy goes into effect November 1, 2004.

Notice NOT-OD-04-063 dated September 2, 2004: (Web) New Address for
the Centralized Receipt of Progress Reports on or after October 1, 2004.

NIH Model Organism Sharing Policy: (Web) The NIH POLICY ON SHARING OF
MODEL ORGANISMS FOR BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH was published in the NIH Guide on
May 7, 2004 . This is an extension of NIH policy on sharing research resources,
and reaffirms NIH support for the concept of sharing. The new policy becomes
effective with the October 1, 2004 receipt date for applications or proposals
to NIH.
- NIH Model Organisms for
Biomedical Research: (Web) This web site provides information (including
frequently asked questions) about national and international activities
and major resources that are being developed to facilitate biomedical research
using the animal models.

- Documentation
of Non Personnel Cost Sharing (Web) The document was updated and included
in the Post Award section of OSR Forms. The fillable form is used
to document expenditures towards the fulfillment of cost sharing commitments.
- NSF Procedure
NSF0423 published July, 2004: (PDF) NSF Grant Proposal Guide
(GPG) has been updated for proposals submitted on or after September 1,
2004. A summary of significant changes is included on pages 4-5 of
the GPG.
