The Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) has moved! Our offices are now located
at 104 Airport Drive, (approximately 1.5 miles north of central campus) on
the second floor of the Administrative Office Building (AOB) in Suite 2200.
OSR Hours
The OSR area on the second floor of the AOB is open from 7:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.
Drop Box
A drop box is located on the ground floor at the front entrance of the AOB. Materials for OSR can be dropped here after 5 p.m. These items will be logged into OSR the next business day by 9:00 a.m.
Map and Driving Directions to OSR
From RTP/Cary/Raleigh via I-40:
- Take I-40 West and Exit 266.
- Turn left off of the exit ramp onto Airport Road/Highway 86.
- Continue South on Airport Road for 2.5 miles until you reach the stoplight
at Estes Drive.
- Proceed straight through the intersection of Estes Drive/Airport Road
and turn right turn at the next street onto Airport Drive.
- The AOB is the first building on the left. OSR is on the second floor,
Suite 2200.
From Durham via 15-501:
- Take 15-501 to Chapel Hill.
- Just after you enter Chapel Hill, there is a fork in the road. There
is a green hanging sign that reads "Franklin Street" over the right fork.
Take the right fork onto Franklin St.
- After 1.0 mile, you will reach a stoplight intersection of Franklin St.and
Estes Dr. Turn right onto Estes Dr.
- After 1.3 miles, you reach the stoplight intersection for Estes Dr. and
Airport Rd. Turn left onto Airport Rd.
- The first right turn on Airport Rd is Airport Drive. Turn right onto
Airport Drive.
- The AOB is the first building on the left. OSR is on the second floor,
Suite 2200.
From Downtown Chapel Hill:
- If headed on Franklin Street towards Carrboro, turn right at the intersection
of Franklin Street and Columbia. (Spanky's is on the right of this intersection).
- Columbia forks at the Fire Station; the wider portion veers right and
becomes Airport Rd. Continue onto Airport Rd.
- The road slopes downward. At the base of the slope is a stoplight which
intersects Airport Rd., Hillsborough St (to the right), and Umstead Rd
(to the left). Continue straight on Airport Rd. for 0.5 miles.
- As you near the top of the hill, Airport Drive is located on your left.
Turn left onto Airport Dr. (It is the last left turn prior to reaching
the stoplight at the intersection with Estes Dr.)
- The AOB is the first building on the left. OSR is on the second floor,
Suite 2200.
From 54/Chapel Hill:
- On the Hwy 54 Bypass East,turn left onto Manning Drive. This is a large
intersection with a sign reading "The Dean Smith Center."
- Follow Manning Dr. for 1.0 mile past the University Hospitals and turn
right onto South Columbia Street. (South Columbia is one-way at this point)
- Continue on Columbia which at .8 miles becomes two-way at Columbia and
Cameron Ave.
- Continue through the stoplight intersection at Columbia and Franklin
St. Columbia forks at the Fire Station; the wider portion veers right and
becomes Airport Rd. Continue onto Airport Rd.
- The road slopes downward. At the base of the slope is a stoplight which
intersects Airport Rd, Hillsborough St (to the right), and Umstead Rd (to
the left). Continue straight on Airport Rd for 0.5 miles.
- As you approach the top of the hill, Airport Drive is on your left. Turn
left onto Airport Dr.(It is the last left turn prior to reaching the stoplight
at the intersection with Estes Drive.)
- The AOB is the first building on the left. OSR is on the second floor,
Suite 2200.
Parking
Service Permit parking spaces are available at the front of the building
for easy access to OSR. Additional parking is available in an overflow lot
across from the Giles Horney Building. If spaces are not available near
the building, there is additional parking across Airport Drive in the R1/R2
Overflow Parking Lot. To get to the Overflow lot (if you are coming
from central campus on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Airport Road)
turn left onto Airport Drive then take the first RIGHT (the AOB is the first
LEFT). The right turn will take you into the Giles Horney Building
(Facilities Services). Continue until you see the R1/R2 Overflow Parking
Lot to your right.
