Welcome to the first installment of the newly created OSR Policies & Procedures Manual, a guide to use in your daily navigation through the murky waters of research administration. This definitive collection of University policies and procedures is patterned on the life cycle of sponsored awards in an understandable, user-friendly format for all constituents of research administration at UNC-Chapel Hill. It replaces and supercedes previous policies from the contracts and grants section of the University Business Manual.
The OSR Policies & Procedures Manual will remain in a continuous state of fine-tuning to optimize usage and provide a reliable, current source of the University's research administration practices. It will be revised and expanded as additional sections are completed for publishing. For example, a glossary designed specifically to address research administration at Carolina is being created simultaneously with each section to assist new Principal Investigators and research staff less familiar with the University's sponsored research processes. Additional features, tools and resources will also be created and implemented for the user's benefit as the manual evolves.
