Submissions include the initial application and subsequent applications for modification or renewal of the approval.

What is needed to access My Research at Carolina?

You will need a UNC-Chapel Hill approved computer ID. This can be either an ONYEN from Information Technology Services (ITS) https://onyen.unc.edu or a School of Medicine ID from the SOM Office of Information Systems (OIS) http://www.med.unc.edu/ois/ One of those IDs permits access to the ID owner’s projects on My Research at Carolina.

How do non-UNC-Chapel Hill PIs get access to their information on My Research at Carolina?

Onyens can be granted to non-UNC-Chapel Hill persons when there is a need, as described in Onyen Policy, http://help.unc.edu/?id=1687. The University’s Information Technology Services provides Onyens, not the Office of Human Research Ethics or the Office of Research and Economic Development.

How do I get access to someone else’s information on My Research at Carolina?

Access by individuals is generally limited to those studies in which that person has direct involvement. However, departments have access to all projects conducted by faculty with primary appointments in that department, for global administrative purposes. Departments may also grant other individuals access to department-wide information, at their discretion. The decision whether to grant access and the actual granting of such access are made by “Role Managers” within the department where the information is sought.

The list of Role Managers in each department who can grant department-wide access to My Research at Carolina information is available under “Research Contacts” on the ORIS web, http://research.unc.edu/oris/index.php.

I’m a project manager or study coordinator. How do I get access to my PI’s information?

If you are listed on the IRB application in that role, your personal ID should give you access. If not already included, your PI can submit a modification to the IRB adding you to the personnel list for one of more studies. Access can also be granted to department-wide data by your department’s Role Manager, as described above, but your department may or may not choose to extend this broad level of access.
