IACUC Training and Compliance Update:
IACUC Training has a permanent home at #148 Glaxo Research Building! We are offering wet labs in Mouse Handling Techniques, Rat Handling Techniques and Aseptic Techniques on a regular basis. We encourage certified Laboratory Animal Coordinators to perform the training for personnel in their laboratories. However, any animal user who has completed the IACUC and DLAM on-line orientation and the Animal Handler Profile may register for classes or lectures on the
IACUC Event Registration Webpage at http://cfx3.research.unc.edu/iacuc_cert/
Please log on using an ONYEN or SOMID and register for the required class (es). Class size will be restricted in order to provide adequate training, so we anticipate classes filling quickly. If the required class is full, you will automatically be placed on a waiting list. Please call the Office of Animal Care and Use (OACU) at 6-5569 to check on your status on the wait list.
We will update the webpage every 3 months with the upcoming class schedules.
In addition to the wet labs, we have two lectures for mouse breeders: Mandatory Mouse Breeding Policy Lecture and Optional Basic Mouse Breeding Colony Management . Any researcher who has previously taken the Mouse Breeding Policy Lecture need not attend a second time. If you are unsure if you have attended, please check “My Certifications” on the IACUC Event Registration Webpage or call OACU. Location and class times are posted on the IACUC Event Registration Webpage.
Since we now have a dedicated training space, we will expand availability of one-on-one training for personnel who need training/certification for techniques which can only be certified by the OACU training and compliance staff. A training and compliance staff member will be available on Monday afternoons, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for individual training sessions in #148 Glaxo Research.
The one-on-one sessions are by APPOINTMENT ONLY . Please call OACU at 6-5569 to schedule appointments for other times.
Thank you,
The Office of Animal Care and Use
