Multidisciplinary Databases

COS Funding Opportunities

COS includes funding opportunities from all disciplines including arts and humanities, medicine, social sciences and sciences. It is one of the most comprehensive databases of funding from government and private sources. Search the database.

InfoEd Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN)

InfoEd SPIN is a database of funding opportunities from government and private sources. It is designed to aid faculty, students and staff in identifying external support for research, education, and development projects in any discipline. There is some overlap with the COS database, but there are opportunities in InfoEd SPIN that you might not find in COS. Use the Advanced Search option to obtain the best results from this database.

Carolina Internal Funding Database

The Carolina Internal Funding Database provides information on internal sources of funds available from UNC-Chapel Hill, as well as nominated or limited submission awards and other prizes, which are funded by external sponsors but are administered by university units and have an internal application process.

Federal Databases

Grants.gov

Grants.gov is the portal for government funding opportunities. Most federal agencies will soon allow direct application for funding opportunities through this website. This resource is most useful for faculty and staff, although there are some valuable opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars as well.

FedBizOpps

Issued by the U.S. Government Printing Office, FedBizOpps lists notices of proposed government procurement actions, contract awards, sales of government property, and other procurement information. This resource is most useful for faculty and staff, although there are some valuable opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars as well.

Federal Register

The Federal Register is a publication of Congressional and other federal agency documents, including funding announcements. This resource is most useful for faculty and staff, although there are some valuable opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars as well.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guide for Grants and Contracts

This is a publication of National Institutes of Health's extramural grant programs and priorities.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Guide to Programs

The NSF Guide contains general descriptions of programs for all National Science Foundation directorates.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA)

The CFDA is a government-wide compendium of federal assistance programs.
