Letters to the Editor

Right: The covers of the print versions of the first issue of Endeavors, Winter 1984, and our twenty-fifth anniversary issue, Fall 2008.

Remembering where she started

I was pleased to read this anniversary issue of Endeavors. I started writing as an associate editor for the magazine just after the first issue was published. As a graduate student in English, I found writing for Endeavors to have been a fabulous way to broaden my education. I wrote about recombinant DNA in my first article (never mind that I wept in my library carrel, trying to figure out the science well enough to make it comprehensible to a wide audience). From there, I was able to learn and write about many fascinating projects in the sciences, medicine, law, and the humanities. It was a terrific secondary education that I continue to build upon. May Endeavors have another great quarter century.
