This photo, “A Moment Alone,” is one in a series about the marriage of a homeless couple. The photographer, Brian Cassella, is a May 2005 graduate of Carolina’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He was named student photographer of 2004 by the N.C. Press Photographers Association. Here, in the midst of wedding reception buzz, Tony and Laura take a break to look through their gifts from members of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, who sponsored a wedding ceremony for the couple. “We got a lot of thank-you notes to write, Tony,” Laura said.
