an illustrated medicine
by Angela Spivey
Netter's Internal Medicine. Marschall S. Runge and M. Andrew Greganti, eds. Icon Learning Systems, 1,200 pages, $84.95.
Nutritional deficiencies, chronic fatigue syndrome, hoarseness — they're
all covered in Netter's Internal Medicine, a quick-reference guide designed
to help doctors manage common medical conditions. Medical students and even
patients may also like it, because each entry is short enough — a few
pages — to read in one sitting, says Marschall Runge, coeditor of the
book and chair of medicine. The guide, just out in June 2003, includes more
than 400 color illustrations, most by renowned medical illustrator Frank Netter,
with some new Netter-style drawings by John Craig and C. Machado.![]()
In addition to Runge and coeditor Andrew Greganti, all of the contributors (almost 150) are associated with Carolina's School of Medicine.
Angela Spivey is associate editor of Endeavors magazine.
