The Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine supports research in animal facilities on and off the UNC-CH campus. Federal and foundation funding sponsors over $60 million in essential animal research on the UNC-CH campus conducted by the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Pharmacy, as well as the Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. Facilities vary from 1,500 to 20,000 net square feet in size, with the majority (7) in the 5,000 to 14,000 net square foot range. As a result of this decentralized approach most investigators find their animals conveniently located in buildings housing their lab space.
