UNC’s Human Research Protection Program has been awarded full accreditation for the next five years by the Council on Accreditation of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). This important achievement reflects UNC’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of research participants.

The council recognized the university, specifically, with an Area of Distinction for its successful collaboration between the international research community and the Office of Human Research Ethics (OHRE) and the IRB, stating: “Researchers, IRB members, and OHRE staff work together to create a review process that is characterized by integrity and efficiency.”
